The Dogs Always Know the Way

I've spent enough mornings walking with dogs to know they understand something people often forget.

They don't worry about getting somewhere.

They're interested in what's happening right now.

The smell in the grass.

The stick in the trail.

The sound in the woods.

The dogs never come home disappointed that the walk wasn't productive.

There's probably a lesson in that.
